Amy Ruley
Amy Ruley has been a resident of north Fargo for 45 years. She moved to North Dakota from Indiana after graduating with a B.A. from Purdue University and MS from Western Illinois and served as the first full time women’s basketball coach at North Dakota State University. She also taught in the department of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Athletics. Ruley’s teams were very successful with 5 NCAA DII National Champions in her 29 years as a head coach. With the success of the teams came various Hall of Fame recognition opportunities.
After transitioning the NDSU wbb program from DII to DI she moved into Administration with a focus on development and fundraising. After a 38 year career in higher education, Amy spent 3 years working to secure major gifts with the Sanford Health Foundation focusing on support for the Roger Maris Cancer Center where she was treated for breast cancer in 2001. Ruley retired from Sanford in 2022 but has stayed active. She has been providing color announcing with WDAY for NDSU

In January, 2024 Ruley joined the HAS board. She shares that she has always had a strong interest in animals and particularly dogs and has enjoyed the companionship of dogs throughout her life time. Currently she has two standard poodles in 10 year old Kochie and 6 year old Ellie.
